Once again I have to replace the strut mounts on my 1997 Jetta.  I am not impressed with the stock replacements and have purchased polyurethane mounts.  The question is upgraded pivot bearings.  Stock bearings are......  Less than good and have a short life.  And the bearings amount to small cups with a number loose bearings rolling around inside of them.  So, what do I need to know to find a bearing that will fit and live at the top of a strut?

Get some camber plates with a quality spherical bearing ala Vorshlag? That's what I run on my MKV GTI.
