HI all, Longtime lurker and magazine subscriber. I currently DD a 2008 Altima SE, and recently picked up a 1995 Z28 convertible for a toy. Altima is all stock, Camaro has all stainless exhaust from headers-back and K&N cai. P.O. installed KYB shocks all around.

Looking forward to doing some mild suspension and braking mods (just picked up some ls1 spindles and calipers for the brake upgrade). Then I want to start getting some instructions on properly driving it. I'm in central Connecticut.

Hi guy's, I am new here, joined earlier this month and working in the sales department at Step Bumper Depot. I love all vintage cars & Off road truck but do not have much knowledge about cars, so I wish this will help me to learn some facts and new topic about cars

Hey, new here. Been a magazine subscriber for about a year now after for some reason not ever subscribing before. Finally just got around to joining here.

I've got a saab 9-7x daily, a currently broken focus st, and am currently on the hunt for an nb miata. I've done a few really small "track days" but want to get more into it.

Also I'm stoked to be going to daytona for the first time this month and will definitely stop by the tent and stuff.

Just signed up. Should have done this a long time ago!

Currently driving a 2011 RX-8 R3, and loving it to death. About to find out how good it is as an only-car for new parents, too. :]

Past cars were a '95 Maxima and a '96 M3. Learned a lot from those cars -- particularly that there's no substitute for a car that's good from the factory. I got the RX-8 R3 because I wanted the best stock chassis setup I could get with an NA engine, manual transmission, RWD, usable back seat, and warranty. Also figured it'd encourage me to keep it stock. That last bit doesn't look like it'll last, but the rest turned out brilliantly.

Looking forward to participating here!

I’ve been reading the forum on and off for years (usually coming across threads during a google search), but it seems I have never actually posted anything. Just received a subscription to the magazine for Christmas and so far I’m really enjoying it. Looking forward to spending a little more time here… this forum seems alive and well vs. some of the model-specific forums which have slowed down to a crawl over the past few years. I tried autocross for the first time this past fall in my daily-driver, and after one event I’m hooked… I want to go faster though!

I daily drive a ’99 Escort wagon, and in the summer I take turns with the wife driving our ’99 Miata. My toy is a ’95 Escort GT with quite a bit of work done. My current project is trying to figure out the best way to make a ~350whp 2300 pound fwd car with McPherson struts into something I can drive successfully at an autocross (without having to trailer it there). With everything I’ve changed it will never be competitive due to class rules, but I’d like to be able to post decent times vs. my other hot-hatch driving friends.

Hi folks,

I'm new to the mag and forum, haven't finished reading the Feb issue but you had me at the $2016 challenge. I have a stock Miata 06 with just a suspension upgrade to flying Miata springs and Koni shocks, which I've used to develop wrenching skills. Planning on doing hpdes and the occasional auto x come the spring. Cheers!

Noob from Minnesota here, stumbled across the magazine/forum through a conversation with the guy who I hired to replace myself doing the cleaning at my day job. Ten years off and on as a bicycle mechanic, 1 year as an auto mechanic that taught me about the evils of micromanagement, 3 years in manufacturing, now 2 years into a fairly cushy desk-type job selling heavy lifting equipment. My mechanical abilities are primarily self taught and range from quality parts replacement to booger welded attempts at fabrication. This forum has been a huge inspiration for the fabrication side of things, as well as keeping things moderately priced.

Cars wise I was raised around American hotrods (30s-70s domestic cars) and Swedish drivers (volvo 240/740s). I have owned a plethora of stuff- 64 Chevy Nova wagon, bunch of lowered s10 pickups, 1990 Vw Jetta, 75 corvette, 95 Mercedes someone put a 5-speed in, etc. My current fleet includes a 2002 Lincoln Town Car, 1983 GMC High Sierra pickup, and a 1964 Dodge Dart.

Things got uncomfortable (ie; built more of a car than I thought I could maintain) with the 64 Nova so it got sold, now I'm trying to re-define what I want out of my vehicles. I Love autocross and enjoy drag racing; and the most fun I've ever had driving a car was easily when I took my Town Car to Road America for one of their winter autocrosses. Something about a v8 sedan and sliding around cones on wet pavement still puts a smile on my face two years later. I think I'd like to rally cross that big lady this summer.

Thanks for reading!

Been on the forums since last April when I purchased a 91 Civic from MazdaDeuce.

Currently Still playing with that car. But not doing much work on it, so that thread is pretty cold.

BUT, my new 94 Civic project has become a barrel of fun from day 1! So I'll be posting on that fairly regularly!

I joined the forum way back at the end of OneLap 2015, after Mazdeuce posted my shiny bald sleeping head for everyone to enjoy. I've lurked here on/off before then and after, and chimed in a bit (and got an awesome welcome) in the run-up to OneLap 2016. Still finding my feet a bit with forum posting; and I've been 'up to my ears' with regular life stuff... but I'm on here a bit more right now... so I figured I'd put something up in this thread. Hi!

Also, I picked up a new HPDE car... and probable OneLap 2017 entrant... back in Nov. Still working things out, and "gaming" the OneLap regulars over on bookface. So, I'll probably start a "buildthread" for it after I've run that a bit.

Yeah, I'm probably a little "too" in to OneLap... but it was what got me over the hump and into HPDE, and eventually some AutoX. Plus, the people, challenge, and the adventure of it are highly rewarding. I really appreciate that GRM has stepped up to the plate to support it, so I'm going to start trying to support GRM a bit more.

Thanks again for the great welcome in the past, and bare with me while I figure out how to 'join the community'.

Hi. I'm new. This is a great site which I've lurked once in a while. I have a bunch of different cars and a few motorcycles: Air-cooled Porsche, round-tail Alfa Spider, e30 BMW, V8 Ferrari, Ford diesel truck for towing, and I vintage race a '69 Alfa Spider, and '65 Honda CB160. Also race a KTM 560 SMR (motard). Also have a background in Spec Miata (before switching to vintage Alfas) and a few British cars. Maybe I can contribute here and there.

Long time lurker. First time poster.

I drive a Jeep Cherokee and show up but often fail to race rallycross in a 69 Beetle. This is hands down my favorite automotive forum/site on the web.

I'm new to the forum. Needed a good forum, since I'm trying to get into car modding and maintenance and also want to get into AutoX. Out of curiosity are any of your staff going to be at the Rolex 24 next Saturday? I live near Daytona and am going to the race.

Hello! I've been reading the forums for a couple months now, but never posted. I'm pretty new to cars and Motorsports in general. Always had interest, but never had funds or knowledge. I live in rural Wisconsin and hope to go to some races this year and take part in my first autox. I recently picked up a 2006 Spec V to play around with. I really credit (or is it blame?) my children. They ignited my passive interest in to real desire and passion to start getting involved.

I just signed up. I used to play with Datsun 510's and Alfa's when I was in my 20's, way back in the 1990's. I was also into bikes and decided at some some I couldn't do everything and focused more on riding and racing. I have been itching for a fast and fun car again. I just got a Mini cooper S to commute in. I intended to leave it alone and not autocross it on weekends, or take it to track days, yeah right.

I used to subscribe to Grassroots when it first came out. I'll have to again. I joined looking for intelligent technical discussion on stuff like camber setting tools, and other more in depth motor head topics.

A little about me. I have had a lifetime of mechanical careers, aircraft mechanic, Lamborghini mechanic (we also serviced Alfa, Lotus, Ferrari, and Maserati). Then Ducati & BMW mechanic, Ducati dealership owner, and now back to aircraft mechanic. I run a medevac helicopter base in north central Washington state. Until recently I cared for a Eurocopter EC135, now we just got a new Agusta A119.

Since I live in the boonies, I like Jeep's. Currently my wife and I have 3, Comanche, Commander, and Rubicon Unlimited. Non are stock. The Rubicon is very not stock, I have slowly turned it into a very versatile offroad/rally weapon. it can handle full throttle desert runs, and then slow down and crawl over stuff, as well as be civilized enough to drive on road trips.

I am still into bikes and ride as much as possible. My current daily rider is a KTM 1190. My second on the flight line is my Ducati Sport Classic.

Future motorized wants and desires? I keep looking for an old Lotus, or any Lotus. I'd even take a Europa. I don't want something too desirable in stock original form. I want to make it what I want. i keep looking a the Bank Europa S2 kits for sale in England. I saw one at the IOMTT one year. Drool. The other thing I keep an eye out for is another Alfa Alfeta GT. I have passed on a couple GTV'6, I want the light weight 4 cylinder with the SPICA injection (or a box of SPICA parts and a set of Webers) Again, I want something to play with, it won't be stock, or useful for anything other than going fast around cones or race tracks. I look forward to checking out this forum. Is anyone near Wenatchee, Chelan or anywhere else in North Central Washington?
