Mercedes T80 designed to beat the worlds land speed record. The attempt was set for the January 1940 "RekordWoche" (Record/Speed Week), but the outbreak of the war prevented the T80 run.

I thought there was something where the Mopar A/FX cars got so radical that the drag racing sanctioning bodies basically banned wheelbase alteration beyond a couple percent.

959/60 Bocar Stiletto: Designed to compete against the Scarabs, the first X-1 version had Jaguar suspension, 283 Chevy power and a fiberglass body. Later versions (XP-2 to XP5) saw refinements in the brakes and weight distribution. The later XP-6 version had an extended frame to accommodate a front mounted supercharger and a swap to a solid rear axle to handle the additional power. Bob Carnes ran this in drag races, road races and hill climbs including Daytona and Pikes Peak. 3 of the XP-6 were built.

OK, which one of you guys built this?

Les Schwenk's Bergundy Baron backwards 1965 Pontiac GTO. Not sure the motivation for this but I love anyone who dares to be different. This one is set up for drag racing and uses a stout mid mounted 400 Pontiac for power. Having it sitting beside you as you drive could be a bit unsettling...

Apparently, the Tech Inspectors were not amused.

My first car was a baby blue one like this. 65 not 66 as in the picture

And then I had a 68 340S with one of those special packages the factory was putting out back then.

And I traded that in on an AAR Cuda
