Kastner Cup to Visit Road America

The Kastner Cup goes to Road America in search for another driver with the skill and composure worthy of the honor.

R.W.“Kas” Kastner, the legendary Triumph racing tuner, has his name on a prestigious trophy that’s given out to drivers of the marque: The Kastner Cup. Each year since 2003, the Kastner Cup has moved to a different venue in search for another driver worthy of the trophy.

The item isn’t necessarily for the fastest driver, but the best sportsman—someone who exemplifies what a real driver and gentleman should be. The cup is awarded based 50 percent on track performance, 25 percent on car presentation and 25 percent on attitude.

This year, the race mated up with the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association for their Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival at Road America. Considering how much history happened here, this track is ideal for a vintage race. Drivers can imagine themselves as Paul Newman as they round Canada Corner, and spectators can smell the tires and race fuel just as they might’ve done decades before.

The September 6-8 weekend at Road America is a vintage event for all types: There’s even the Gather on the Green Vintage Car Show near the old start/finish line. Check the Friends of Triumph site for all the event’s details.
