Classic Motorsports Car Catcher: Big Healey

There’s no doubt that an Austin-Healey 3000—commonly referred to as a “big Healey”—delivers the nostalgia and visceral driving experience we love in a British roadster. Today we think we’ve spotted a good deal for anyone shopping for their own big Healey. Our friends at MMG Auto are offering a 1964 Austin-Healey 3000 for $49,985. They say it underwent a restoration in the past and is in very good condition. According to Hagerty‘s price valuation tool, that’s just a little more than the expected price for a number 3 car. This one could be a good buy.

From the pictures that I can see,(they aren't loading very fast), this looks like a very nice car. Looks to be restored to original specification. From the looks of the battery terminals it may have had the electrics converted to negative ground, which isn't a bad thing. It is definately an older resto but it certainly is carrying nice patina. As a long term and current Healey owner I would say also that the price might be a wee bit strong, but not much. Ya gotta start somewhere. I think who ever buys it will be very happy with it. I'm actually looking for one just like it but I want a basket case because I intend to build up a V8 Healey. Any prospect should note that this is a roll up window car. A "convertible" not a "roadster".

Nice looking car, but the none original color does detract from the value for collectors. I own 2 big Healeys and vintage race one. With a few subtle tweaks, the big six can be made to handle and perform with the best of the 356 crowd.
