Classic Motorsports Car Catcher: Jim Fitzgerald’s Datsun 280ZX

Time for a history lesson: Who is the winningest driver in SCCA history? Answer: Jim Fitzgerald with an astounding 350. For years he terrorized tracks around the U.S. in this 1979 Datsun 280ZX, which is now up for auction on bringatrailer.com. Adam Carolla and his crew have kept it in shape and even ran it at the Monterey and Sonoma Historics. Now the car is looking for a new home.

Will never forgive him for deliberately ramming the E type Jag in CP at the start in 1980 Road Atlanta to try to give Newman a win. Total douche bag move and hated the guy after that. The Jag went on to win which made everybody at the track happy. And don't anybody try and tell me that it wasn't deliberate. Just watch.

I'd forgotten that incident, but you are right (thanks for the video url). Guy should have been black flagged and penalized.

I'm not sure that's correct at least as far as the Run offs go.. Last I looked Jerry Hanson had the most wins at the runoffs. However it's been decades since I checked SCCA
