The 2018 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance will celebrate the 60th anniversary of N.A.R.T., the fabled North American Racing Team, on the weekend of March 9-11, 2018. A full class of N.A.R.T.’s most famous racers will take to the field for the occasion.
So here’s the game: Just tell the contest officials why you think the original rectangular N.A.R.T. insignia has just eight stars (later to be replaced by 48 stars and seven stripes). Even Luigi Chinetti, Jr. who was part of the original N.A.R.T. cast, claims he doesn’t know. Or forgets.
We believe that our audience is the brightest band of hardcore car enthusiasts around, and sometimes know more delightfully arcane car lore than we do.
So, email them an explanation or your version of the adoption of the eight-stars on the N.A.R.T. insignia. If one of you is as smart and creative as we think, you’ll win a pair of tickets to the 23rd annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.
