Come See the Tornado at Carlisle

Our 1958 Tornado Typhoon arrived in DIY condition, being billed as mostly complete but not all there. The easiest way to see what we had, we figured, was to mock it together. The car is still at Eclectic Motorworks , Carl Heideman’s shop. His teenage son, Jack, handled the project.

Carl explains:

“Jack got the Tornado pretty close to a roller this weekend. He hung the suspension, installed engine/gearbox, gas tank, etc. We mounted the body tub. All that’s left is to make some sort of tie rod so the front wheels will track straight, then mount the front end and hinge the doors. It still seems very complete, except for a steering box/column and tie rods.”

Another good reason to put it all together? Easier to transport. The car’s first stop will be the Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals May 17-19. Come see us, see the car, and be prepared to be wowed.
