Getting the Carbs Back

We mentioned a while back that we had assembled a box of old 1.25-inch SU carburetors and an original Aquaplane intake manifold for our Tornado Typhoon and sent the whole mess to SU carb expert, Joe Curto.

He looked over our pile of parts and quickly announced that he thought he could make something out of it.

When we got everything back, we were impressed. It all looked brand new. He had thought of everything, designing the whole system right down to replacing our complicated throttle linkage system with a simple cable.

We were even more impressed when we started the car for the first time. We leaned the carbs out slightly and the car has run perfectly ever since. We gave Joe some details about the engine and he just nailed the jetting on the first try!

We finished the carbs off with a couple of cool looking velocity stacks that we picked up at Carlisle for about $5.
