Until we get a little more time and develop our permanent plan for our 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230 S, we decided we would rallycross it one more time. This event, held in mid-April, was going to be at the newly sold and renamed Florida International Rally and Motorsport Park. This is a fun site for this sort of thing, as they have 400 acres to play on and both Pro Rally and rallycross areas set up.
We would have liked to install a limited slip differential and fix the annoying gearbox, which jumps out of second gear constantly. In the end we just didn’t have time though. We did get the exhaust system quieted down and the car ran a bit better as well. We had a blast, finishing second and third against much faster cars. But we have sworn that we won’t do another event until we get the gear box fixed.
