Porsche Idle Adjustment

We investigated further and saw that our idle position switch was simply out of adjustment. We made the fix, and the car now idles at a cool 800 rpm.

Our 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera’s idle seemed kind of high. It would hover right around 1200, while the factory spec is closer to 800.

Vacuum leak? Bent throttle arm? ECU issues? Wacky airflow meter?

According to the Bentley manual, a 1200 rpm idle is a symptom of a bad idle switch. (See, sometimes it pays to read a book.)
