What makes this Ferrari F40 more unique than most? It’s one of just 27 known road-going examples to have been turned into a race car.
Okay, so that means it’s not a 100% genuine Competizione, but it does represent a rare opportunity to own a competition-spec Ferrari F40–and one with racing history, too.
Martin Shaw's Specialised Cars of Manchester transformed the F40 to closely emulate the factory LM cars with revised turbochargers, a freer-flowing exhaust, custom-fabricated intercoolers, uprated suspension, beefier brakes and a race-ready fuel system. (In total, engine output was raised to over 640 horsepower.)
The bodywork was also modified with several LM-style tweaks like fixed headlights, enlarged brake cooling ducts, larger front splitter and adjustable rear wing.
Under the banner of his SCS Motorsport racing team, Martin Shaw would enter the F40 in the 2000 British GT Championship, ending the season with mixed results.
Today, the Ferrari is accompanied by a sizeable spares package of both cosmetic and mechanical components, as well as a documented history of ownership.
Find this 1989 Ferrari F40 "Competizione" for auction from Broad Arrow Auctions with an estimated value of €2,300,000-€2,800,000, or approximately $2,600,000-$3,200,000.
