Raced twice in the 24 Hours of Le Mans: Triumph TRS

130 mph in a TR4? That’s what this Triumph did when it raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans–and not just once, but twice, in 1960 and 1961.

Even more impressive, however, is that this TRS finished 11th overall in that second Le Mans outing, with most of the cars finishing ahead of the Triumph consisting of Ferraris, Maseratis and Porsches.

This Triumph TRS race car, better known as 927 HP, would later be shipped to the U.S. after its stints at Le Mans. The car would be seldom used, according to the seller, though restoration work began sometime in the 1980s. That work wouldn’t be finished until 2010 under a different owner, though.

The current owner acquired the TRS in 2020, driving the car on the street and taking it to various events in the U.K.

Despite its current use as a road car the seller notes that the TRS would likely be welcome at prestigious events like the Goodwood Revival and the Le Mans Classic.
