Just like Coke’s slogan, this 1983 Porsche 935/84 is the real thing: This is the car that crossed the finish line at the 1985 24 Hours of Daytona.
Sporting a bright red Coca-Cola and Domino’s Pizza livery, this Porsche, raced by Bob Akin, secured a fifth-place finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1985. The Porsche also stands as the car Akin’s campaigned from 1983 to ’84.

The Porsche Renn Werks shop had ceased production of its 935 Group 5 race cars by 1980. Those looking to upgrade their current stable of 935s into the early 1980s decade of competition employed various race car fabrication/engineering shops–including the Kremer Bros, Reinhold Joest and Fabcar–to perform the task of extracting every last ounce of speed from the already capable platform. This particular example started life with an ex-Derek Bell chassis that was sent to Dave Klym of Fabcar in Tucker, Georgia, to undergo the transformation and modification process. Dave Klym fitted a Kremer Bros. K3 rear suspension and a revised front suspension sourced from the last-generation Porsche 935 “Moby Dick.” The fiberglass body modifications included a Kremer K4 front nose and a “long tail” dual window rear section.
Accompanied by HMSA and HSR logbooks, FIA Historic technical passport and even the cars build photos, this Porsches stands eligible for HMSA, HSR and SVRA vintage racing events.
