The final Ford C100 built

This Ford C100 is a bridge of sorts between two worlds. Len Bailey, who was the chief draftsman behind the Ford GT40, initially designed the C100. After Bailey left the project, Tony Southgate came on board to rework the C100. The C100 would later inspire Southgate when he designed the Le Mans-winning Jaguar XJR-9.

Only two examples of the Mk. III C100 were built before Ford canceled the project. One car was complete, but the other, this one, was unbodied and unfinished.

Notable engineer Bryan Wingfield finished this chassis and now it’s a complete car. Wingfield’s claim to fame? Working at Ford Advanced Vehicle Operations and building a prototype to run alongside the GT40s that got shelved in favor of the Shelby Daytona.

Find this 1983/2004 Ford C100 MKIII Group C Racing Car for auction at Bonhams, with an estimated value of £230,000-£300,000 (approximately $310,000-$410,000 USD).

That's way cool. It's not very often I come across a car I've never heard of.
