The only Aston Martin DB4 prototype

There’s nothing quite like this Aston Martin DB4, and that’s because it was the prototype that led to the DB4. It features one-off bodywork and an experimental chassis.

Its life as a prototype ended when coachbuilder Touring Superleggera wanted a platform chassis to be devised for the DB4. After that, the prototype became the personal car for the wife of Aston Martin exec David Brown, who drove it until 1962.

By the 1970s, the DB4 fell into disrepair. In 1990, Aston Martin Works restored the car over the course of 5 years. “Top Gear” even featured it in 1999. In 2005, the Aston Martin underwent another recommissioning, where it was refinished in the current Almond Green over Fern Green leather.

Find this 1957 Aston Martin DB4 Prototype ‘DP114/2’ for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of £385,000-£425,000 (approximately $500,000-$550,000 USD).
