Updated to European specifications | Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider

Sure, Alfa Romeo built many Spiders over multiple generations, but that doesn’t mean you should settle for just any one car.

This Spider from 1969 features the 1750cc twin-cam engine and is reported to have been upgraded to European specification: Euro-market side markers, twin Weber carburetors, and offset chrome exhaust.

The seller says the car underwent a “high-quality restoration,” and was recently sorted by “an experienced Alfa Romeo expert.”

Many people lament about the so-called malaise period of automobiles sold in the US.  The wonderful thing about this Alfa and other European cars of the era was there was a genuine European factory spec to convert back to, returning the cars to full, intended performance.  Some domestically produced and sold vehicles had no such lifeline, as they were strictly built as such with no other official options to fall back to, short of what would be considered 'aftermarket' modifications.

Totally agree, my Scorpion is a good example, as the stock, smog chocked 1.8 is not representative of what a good, high compression 2.0 with a set of webers on it will do to enhance the performance back to the Montecarlo specs. This Alfa is beautiful, always thought the boat tailed early Spider was the best looking of the bunch!
