No, they are e36 compact/z3 iirc. The front is e36 while the rear is, for all intents and purposes, an upgraded e30 design.

All e30 diff's are "medium case" IIRC. Ti's have the small case, and I think z3m's have the large case.

Not quite. M10 and M42 powered E30s got small case diffs, and everything else got a medium case, including the M3. Ti's generally have a small case as well. Not sure about Z3m's.

look at the fill and drain plugs; that is the easiest way to tell, for E30 diffs at least.

definitely a medium case, let you know if local guy flakes, although it would be expensive to ship

Yeah, if it's in decent shape and is under $300 all said and done, I'm still happy. Last one I shipped, I sent out in a heavy duty tupperware kind of box, and I don't remember it being that bad. UPS/Fedex are cheaper than USPS for stuff like that. If you don't want to deal with that though, I do understand that it's kind of a pain, hah.

If its a small case 4.10, then post it over on BMW2002faq. Those guys are always looking for higher gears. I had one and never swapped it over to the 2002 case. Ended up selling it.
