Thanks! I kind of have my heart set on a 2.5L car, so I can teach my students how to do a timing belt on a (relatively simple) interference engine

Does it have to be a porsche? There are a lot of timing belts that are easier to do than a 944

Yes, because that's the track car that I want when this exercise is complete

Presumably you have the Porsche-specific tool for this job?

I don't but I have a good friend who does, and he lets me borrow it whenever I need it (I probably use it more than he does).

If you could raise your max to the 2k range there are a few '44s in the DC area.

The special Porsche tool isn't really needed, just makes it easier.

There's some cheap 924S/944 here on the West Coast, but transpo costs aren't your friend.

@ MO30. I have the "special" tools I can loan you if you want to show the kids them. BUT, as you know, you really don't need them. A BFH and a large screw driver and a couple of wrenches thinned a bit on a belt sander are all you need.
