I would say it has gotten better since I sold 2 cars. But only one of those was a project...

Yeah, and I had to fight myself not to buy one. If it had the dual plane wing, it would have been pretty much irresistible.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for a Volvo truck. And yes you should buy the Mercedes if only to say you have a manual trans Mercedes.
I've had a few Mercedes diesel wagons, all w123, and never really enjoyed them that much. I think I'd rather finish the volvo truck and drive that.

Can you imagine that with an LS swap? In California, the cutoff for smog on Diesels is 95 so...
Is there a way to make these move faster than, say, a glacier?
The popular formula seems to be a reworked injection pump from Finland for $1000-1500 and larger turbo for 300hp or so to the wheels.

Yes and No.
The OM603 does not put out the power that the OM606 does, but google superturbo diesel and be prepared to be shocked at the clips on youtube
