I bought an arctic cat 4 wheeler for 100 bucks.

Traded it and 300 bucks for this truck and an 88 Chevy 2500 and a ton of extra parts I can sell off and make probably half my money back.

This one is probably going to need a transmission, but the interior is real clean, the exterior is pretty typical of one of these gmt400s (at least here in the mid west.)

I kind of like it. I'm going to fix it and use it as a beater truck.

Here's a few pics.

I was happy to see it crack free.

Oh: heck yeah!... they sell replacement sheet metal for the rear cab corner rust outs, you can even panel bond those in if you don't have a MIG.  interior looks like a three year old truck, more than a 23 year old truck. Even the carpet over the transmission tunnel---no coffee splashes or doobie burns...

Must be pre-pass side airbag, or you'd get a tall boy right between the eyes when the Passenger air bag deployed!

Maybe a trans flush and additive like "Dr Tranny" will revive the thing, or kill it the rest of the way...either way..nice score!

Is '95 a TBI truck or Vortec?  Not that it really matters.  Looks like a worthy project!

That has to be near the top of the list of cheapest-to-maintain vehicles

TBI. I know the vortec proforms better, but I like the TBI set up. Might swap some vortec heads on it at some point though.

It even looks like all the dash plastics fit together.  I think it is better than new.  Should make a great work truck.

I agree...the TBI system seems to be the holley carburetor of fuel injection now (people are using it in everything).  The 4x4 guys really seem to have the knowledge here.  Seems to be a go-to for them because they don't need huge power numbers, but want fuel injection for steep angle operation.

I was researching a simplified TBI hack for transplanting into old projects here just recently.  If you did vortec heads and TBI, that would be pretty cool (and something I've considered using on a project at some point).

I bought a chip burner, programmable chip for TBI, and chip adapter, and had it shipped to Canada for $166 from Moates.  If you want/need to break way from full stock, that's pretty cheap.

Nice score! Had 93 K5 blazer that got passed around the family for over 10 years, sold it with 385k on clock and still ran like champ. What’s wrong with trans. Ours “lost” 1st and 3rd, turned out to be bad solenoid.

Mine does not have 3rd or 4th.

In reply to Project86fox :

Might be worth checking out solenoids. Can’t tell you how, my brother took truck  trans shop that diagnosed it. Was $150 fix

If the trans is smoked inside, you'll know.  Smoked Trans Oil has a distinctly "this can't be good" smell to it. That and a ton of ex-clutch soup in the bottom of the pan.

So the truck seems to run and drive good except not having 3rd or od. I'm really thinking about having the trans rebuilt, which is about 900 if I pull it out and put it back in myself. However, i dont want to do that unless I know everything else is good.Soooooo, I'm going to get it inspected and licensed hopefully today so I can drive it around town for a week or two before making so Iarge commitment...

My uncle was going to take it up to get it inspected when this happen.

Thinking back, this isn't the first time he's left lug nuts loose.

Jacked up the threads on the studs, so looks like I'll be fixing that...

Kind of jacked up the wheel as well. I got this wheels sitting around that I'll throw on it for now.
