My concern is not shortening the life of the rotors. It is rotor failure. I have seen it happen on the track within a matter of a few dozen laps.

There is no need to upgrade to C5 brakes. The stock brakes will do amazingly well hauling your car down from 120+mph repeatedly all day every day with the right pads and ducting.

I have done thousands of laps with a gbody with mostly stock brakes (pads/ ducting / 1LE rotors AND rear drums...with porterfield shoes). I never had a brake issue.

Ok when I take it to the track it will have fresh non drilled rotors.

What spring rates did you run?

Drug home the parts car for the floors . It has a really nice frame under it. I am thinking of modifying it and then rolling it under the car after the challenge. I am looking into a truck arm suspension with a 9" ford on air ride. I have always wanted to park and drop to the weeds. But that is for later.

After I get done rebuilding the deck on the house I will get back to the car.

G body springs have factory rates up to 820lb, I pulled the pair out of the S10 recently and went with longer softer Camaro springs for rallycross.

I have a pair of front ZQ8 Bilsteins from the S10, they wont work any more I need longer shocks now I used longer springs.

my 79 has tired 420lb I put spacers in just to level the lower control arms years ago. She was dragging the headers. In snow you could see 4 tracks.

I was able to squeak out some wrench time and drop out the gas tank today.

The back deck on the house is almost done.

Some box flairs on that car 54 would look sweet. Are there any details on that Malibu?

Started hanging the new rear control arms. Had to drill out the bolt hole to 1/2". started building the upper shock mounts and figuring out the lower due to the caliper being in the way for the stock mount. Will get pictures tomorrow.

Started taking the front end apart. I found out why the front sagged, a hole broken coil in the pocket.

I looked at the body mounts they all need changed . There is only one of the four mounts doing something on the back half of the frame. Time to get some solid mounts, maybe I can square the body on the frame. It is off to the right 1". Might have something to do with the full size caddy that hit me in the drivers door when I was 18. He ran the stop sign and there was a building so I never saw him.

To avoid distorting the body. Plus I will be able to box the frame as I go.

I took a break from rust repair. I cleaned and changed the ball joint on the lower front passenger control arm. hung it on the car with the spring. Measured for the tie rod. I couldn't get one of the bolts out of the drivers side control arm. soaked for week with penetrating oil. I am just going to change the joint on the car. The bushings are ok and I am reusing them. I can put 3 wheels on now!!

I'll follow with interest. I am getting ready to rebuild the front suspension on my '78. And it needs lots of other stuff, too.
