Getting closer. Just need two more pieces of wood cut to finish off the bed and then reinstall a couple parts. It should be on the road next weekend.

I get excited every time there's an update. It's almost like Blinky.

"Almost" in that this has a chance of being on the orad before the 2020s?

Very same idea as the Saab. Very much better execution. Good work!!

Yep. Maybe not the best for wear but I already had it and it should hold up to the weather.

Only if you seal it...  (frowny face)

I have some thompsons stain and sealer that’s a light gold color if you want some.  I am coming down to brap’s place at some point if you want to trade a gallon of sealer for the front fenders off your parts car so i can try and get welding done on the Wartburg

Meh,Seal the ends and let it grey out.  The material is  soft and if the intent is to actually use it for some sort of hauling the cedar is going to scratch readily. When it rains, sealed or not water is soaking in anywhere it's scratched. I'd be inclined to give it the quickest way back out. OR seal it and get a rubber mat to lay in there whenever you do ANYTHING.

Great job, it looks awesome!

Looks awesome. Are you going to bring this to the June 15th rallycross?

I have some danish oil I was planning to use on it. I do have two parts 240s in the driveway now so there are plenty of fenders to be had if you need them.

Probably not. I may bring it down Friday night but for competition saturday and sunday I'll be towing the Miata.

I decked my trailer in cedar.  It didn't "grey out" so much as "disintegrated".

Heh.  Disinte-grey-ted

I thought you always used plywood on the trailer?

Dig. Well I'm planning to be there both to drive and see how you guys run an event!

In reply to EvanB :

Cedar plywood, which has "cedar" in the name so it must be 100% equivalent.

In hindsight, the wood probably would have been fine if it hadn't delaminated, which is more of a glue issue, so nevermind.

You need to have the Miata there on Friday for tech inspection.  This still allows you to drive the 240 down on Saturday, though.

Some L-shaped aluminum or stainless nailed to the back of the boards would probably help durability a bunch.  The ends wouldn’t get beat up when cargo gets slid into the bed.

It's pretty much done for now. I need to put some better tires on it but I am going to start driving it.

That looks absolutely awesome!  Maybe I missed it, but did you retain the rear wiper functionality?

Just one small thing... Please tell me you're still planning to make all the boards the same length!  My OCD is screaming over here! :)

That looks great, nice work! Do you have a mini bike, killer mountain bike, go kart, or something you can haul in the back?
