Hey guess what?  The ancient furnace in the shop is dead (cracked heat exchanger that was NLA several decades ago).  And we still need to do the shop roof this year.  Yay!  frown

Luckily, the only room in the shop that requires heat is the bathroom, which is easily kept warm with a space heater.  Having heat out there was making me feel like a bit of a wuss anyway.  cheeky

What kind of furnace?

I have a 125k BTU forced air oil furnace from the mid 90s sitting in my basement I need to get rid of after I converted to a pellet furnace.

I know there's all kinds of other considerations that go into HVAC before someone from an HVAC forum jumps me.

In reply to The0retical :

Uh... a big forced air oil furnace.  If you want to PM me a photo of the tag/info I can ask about it when the HVAC guy comes to spec out what we would need for a new one.

Sure I'll get one later today. Worked when pulled in November.

New (old) furnace acquired.  The0retical is the man and I am deeply jealous of his rx3 project.

im pretty sure I’ve driven by this place a few times exploring the back roads of Q town. I use to go to Q mart years ago and my mother lives off 313. Bucks county has so many cool old farm houses.

Stuff is beginning to move towards progress on the house/shop projects.  The ball is rolling on getting the shop roof redone (decided to go with a complete tearoff and rubber membrane) and Sara has started prepping to paint the houses's first floor interior- after that's painted we'll be ripping up the carpets.

Really I just posted in this thread because I wanted to share this photo taken from our kitchen window:

Is that an illusion or are those buildings really close together?

Sara hated this blue color:

Many (useless) helpers for prep work:

Sara has been kicking all sorts of ass with the painting, while I've been doing every other household chore I can think of to keep having excuses not to:

Next will be ripping up carpets!

The color change looks great! I'm curious to see what the floors look like under the carpets

Painting more or less finished so we shoved everything into one side of the house:

So we could do this:

Sara's in charge, so I don't really know what happens next.

Ah... the joys of "almost" nice floors in an old house and the fun of trying to figure out why the hell they did that.  Fortunately, they sell area rugs.

That's interesting, like the room was originally two rooms + a closet and someone just decided to take out some walls? Strange, but yeah, nothing an area rug can't fix.

Refinishing it right would probably make the difference small enough it goes away. Looks like every old house in new England .
