Lots of Carnage....

I tried to finish the distributor and ignition peices today. I did get the radiator hose installed, but I don't like how it sits, it rests right on top of the radiator shroud and I bet it vibrates enough to put a whole in it.

I don't have all the peices yet, only the ones stored inside the car... I'm hoping the rest get dropped off next week.

I noticed that I am in way over my head, and there are a lot of disconedisco peices that I don't know what they connect to.

Oh well, it's supposed to be a challenge yes?

Throw the biggest cam you can get at it and the widest tires. Screw cosmetics and take your 13 points.

Well, i can tell it’s a 90.  What are you missing?  I don’t have much c4 stuff left

In reply to Stampie :

Should I go with a big cam, or should I try to get the turbo hooked up?

Thing is, it has an almost stock cam in it and 9.5/1 hyperutectic pistons.

Turbo kit is bolt on for an l98 camro (different acsesory set up) and would take some fabricating, but comes with an electronic boost control and a water meth injector.

Missing? Not a lot I don't think (won't know till the parts get here! But most of it is broken!

I am however looking for some door hinges, driver's door glass, and a busted up hood to scavenge fiberglass from. I have a crazy notion of making a cover for the rear out of a hood.

I tell you what though, since I have no idea what I'm doing, your familiarity with the car could be huge.

for a cover get a truck bed cover/ or cut the form from styrofoam and cover that with fiberglass. I have extra rear glass and hood but JIM (OVID AND FLIM) had a hood he may or may not part with. I DON'T THINK MUCH OF WHAT YOU NEED CHALLENGE WISE IS WORTH SHIPPING COSTS. Then again I don't know where you live.

I am in kalamazoo Michigan. However I've been known to go for long drives.

I don't have a clue how to make things out of fiberglass, maybe I will learn, but I had heard the materials were pricey.

Peice of the hood I want is from the cowl to just before the headlights and between the wheel well bumps. Approx 37 x 57. If I can find one "close" I will take a trip, cut the piece and junk the rest

Cx raceing Gt45 76mn ball bearing anti surge turbo.

But, with needing to redo everything and then getting it re tuned, I may be a whole lot better off with a can swap. Compression ratio and heads are very sub optimal for a big cam though.

My plan for my day off today has been scuttled. The place I am working on it at was broken into and I am not being allowed in, not even to see if my tools survived.

I have all the fuel lines temporarily run, but I needed anouther 6an to 6an connector that I picked up this morning and a Saginaw to 6an connector that is supposed to be with the other parts and then I can run them more "correctly". I also picked up a shrader valve and a plug, as the fp guage is also missing or in the other pile of parts.

As soon as the lines are finished I can install the throttle body, and then it should just be a matter of reconnecting or plugging vacuum lines. At least in theory, depends on how many things actually work, and what I may have overlooked.

Nope. It was a quick smash and grab for cash and smokes (it's in an attached garage to a convenience store) same people hit the local Napa and 3 other small business on the same night. Smashed door glass grabbed cash register and anything handy then ran off.

I should note though that I have not been able to get out there myself and will still worry untill I get there tomorrow.

Got the second load of parts dropped off today, won't get to go through them until tomorrow, super excited even though I've owned all of them before.

Have almost everything that I am going to get... I am being screwed over. I was told that he never intended to include the electronics for the turbo in the sale... If I want them he wants $350 more.

Now, that's still a good deal, as it's over 600 for them new, and supposedly they are new but open package. But I'm feeling a bit angry and cheated.

I have everything now but the roll cage tube. I want to tell him to jump in a lake, however I still need the tube, but don't have a dry place to store it and I want the AEM gadgets. I may not be able to run them at the challenge, but they would be real handy to have.

I can use them and just remove them from the car before the challenge right?

Anyhow. Tomorrow after work, with luck she will be ready to fire but I think I should change the oil before I crank her over as it has sat for about 19 months without being started, I'm surprised, but the battery is still holding enough charge to run the fuel pump and the wipers (that was startling).

Anything specific I should do or look out for after it has sat this long?

You might want to pull the dizzy and turn the oil pump to get oil through the engine as most of the oil has probably drained back to the pan.

just pull the hot plug on the dizzy. having the plugs out will let you see any water or crap blowing out the plug holes,  you may never see stuff that goes into exhaust and gets burned up. get up some oil pressure and then plugs and reattach the hot wire.

It's in, mostly! And no leaks at least at the low pressure you get when you turn the key on but don't start it.

The VATS is kicking in (it shouldn't becouse I have a chip that's supposed to include a bypass, my door locks and ignition are bad and the vats were going haywire randomly last time it was running)

I know one of those holes is for the brake booster and one for the FPR, do I need the other two?

This cooling system line runs around behind the intake and I don't know what it looks to.

It tees in to the hoses in this pic, right in front of where the antifreeze fill cap is.

I ran c4 in 2016 without rear glass.  If you can find a junk conversion van, break out the Sawzall and cut roof fiberglass for a large hatch cover.  I was going to build a large rear wing out of roof panel I scavenge.  I was able to find a rare but not very collectible rear hatch that eliminates the window that I was going to use. Maybe next year. Tied up with my Dakar project right now.
