I told him he should. He's done Pike's Peak like 6 times with sidecar motorcycles. Definitely belongs here.

Throwback Thursday! On this day 4 years ago, I embarked on an ambitious journey with the amazing help of this community. Definitely one of my favorite memories. And dang, I miss that shop!

After almost 3 years, Datsaniti has resurfaced on FBMP. But with quite an update.

The story is a friend crashed it, so they bought it from the first buyer, and this guy traded motorcycles for it since he restores bikes. He repaired the crash damage and did a bunch of other stuff. Thankfully no one got hurt in the wreck. Seller and I had a good chat about it so he sent me some before/after pictures. You can see the 1/8" reinforced strut tower/upper A-arm cup and fender bracing seems to be intact, while everything forward of it crumpled. I never did hear from the first buyer since I sold it.

Look how they massacred my boy

But it's alive again

Not gonna lie, I kinda dig the metal flake.

We just not gonna talk about what appears to be a massive cortelco telephone car in one of the pictures?

Did you, or did the new owner "close in" the gaps in the rear?  I think I remember you making the rear doors match the rear of the car, but I don't remember if it was basically a totally sealed car inside when you were done.

Yep, that's a telephone car. The first buyer has built a few of them.

In reply to wvumtnbkr :

I think I understand what you mean. I widened the door jambs along with the body, so it all fully shuts like normal. I detailed that work on pages 13 or 14 of this thread.

That is sad that it was wrecked but that new paint job is fantastic. I think "bass boat" chic needs to be a thing.

I was happy to see an update, then sad to see it was wrecked, then happy all over again to see it fixed.

And for the record, I also dig the metal flake.

My internal monologue seeing this update

"2018 wasn't that long ag-....ohhhhh" can't believe this car has been floating around somewhere getting bass boated for over 3 years now.

"bass boated" .... I need to remember that when I see a real flake job.
