Are the Vette wheels the same PCD? How close is the offset?

In reply to 2002maniac: Vette wheels are not the same PCD as the Astro, and they are much higher offset, so there's plenty of room for the appropriate adapters.

To be clear, I bought the rims. The van is still in my possession. Engine has been completely disassembled, box of parts arrived, the build continues.

One problem. The new cam came in the box with no corrosion protection of any kind. No cosmoline, oil, or oil soaked paper. Inspection shows some possible pitting on the bearing surfaces as if the cam had been left in one position on a surface. Not happy. Partner in build to bring cam back to supplier. Heads off to machinist.

That is all.

Bottom end together. Heads up next. Slow but steady wins the...er, um, I mean gets to the race.

i did intake gaskets on an astro once, i dont envy you here. should make a fun van though!

Front of the engine exposed. Discovered throttle body FI no dreaded spider. Staying injected now a possibility?

Ughhhhh....Chevy TBI....my S10 had the 4.3 with TBI and it worked flawless for years until it catastrophically failed. Yanked the TBI and installed a carb. Much happier. It always made plenty of torque but with the carb it made quite a bit more bhp according to the butt dyno.

Spent Saturday morning at the local salvage yard. Got me a V8 throttle body, PCM, distributor, 8 mm silicone wire set, and knock sensor. $160.50 from the budget. May go back for the G20 exhaust manifolds. $35 each if I pull them myself.

Will either buy or make adapter to bolt tbi to square bore intake manifold.

Weather not cooperating so no work on the actual van.

Was able to get to salvage yard and pick up exhaust manifolds. If I can get over this head cold I'll go out and finish pulling things out of the way for the swap. Need to lay down plywood over the gravel so I can use a friend's hoist to do the swap.

TBI is really good news in this case.

Spent part of the morning with the smoke wrench removing the studs from the manifold. Will replace with new.

Any suggestions for an inexpensive way to paint them? And have the paint stay?

Por15 manifold paint. I believe that E36 M3 would stick to the space shuttle on reentry without blinking.
