Yup, I thought it was going to be a Supra rally car too. Honestly though, I was more intrigued by that thought than I was actually interested, so I think I like this build better. I love the IS, and these wagon things are so darn ugly they are awesome! You may need to raise the rear ride height back up after you load it down with all the baby stuff! If this is going to be the main family hauler, my only suggestion is to keep things tame and reliable...I know it's not very GRM of me, but having a stock, reliable, go-to family buggy is where it's at. Keep the projects separate. But that's just my .02...carry on!

Did a small brake upgrade to tide me over until I can afford my floating rotor/supra turbo caliper upgrade. I replaced the stock Rotors with Brembo sport rotors and the pads with Hawk HPS pads. The motivation for the upgrade was the axis opener at limerock park, I was invited to do an exhibition as a result of my 3rd place finish in the series last year (in the commute attack mr2 spyder). I also attempted to perform a performance alignment, but failed to free the right front camber adjustment so I was temporarily stuck with soccer mom settings in the front and enthusiast setting in the rear (read: understeer prone). But I was able to drive around the push and she was a hit with all the spectators, we won an honorary award for "best use of a japanese luxury station wagon". We ended up turning the 4th fastest time of the day, behind an e36m3 race car, a modded newer style m-coupe piloted by my friend Quinn and a heavily modified sti.

Enjoy!

Man, this is a project I've wanted to do ever since I saw my first Sportcross.

Got some new wheels, they're from an is250, I think they suit the car pretty well. They're a bit wider at 8" square vs 7/7.5" staggered. I'm running 225 front, 235 rear (45/17) P-zero rossos.

I've been thinking about the boosted 2jz thing, and I've been wondering if I might go a different direction engine wise…..

Toyota makes an engine called a 1gzfe for their century limousine, it's a v12 made from a pair of 2.5l straight sixes with a shared crank and separate engine management for each bank, I think an uncorked one of these with some itbs would be really special. Because of the 60degree v angle and aluminum block, the 1gz is fairly compact and actually weighs the same as a 2jzgtte with all the turbo stuff. I think with all the emissions and sound garbage deleted it'll be pretty light. Just brainstorming at the moment but I think the sound of a 12 would make a lexus wagon really interesting. These engines are actually kind of a cheaper alternative to a bolt on turbo kit for the 2jz (they're about 1/2 the money).

No, me too. Pictures downloaded and I had to wonder where the Supra pics were.

Certainly not disappointed though, I really like this thing!

Edit: just read the 12cyl post...

Four of these would do nicely on that V12.

Triumph Speed triple EFI stuff, btw.

came here expecting rallycross supra, wasnt disappointed.

wagon+manual+v12+itb= greatest car on the planet, especially since its just for a "baby hauler" haha

Please please please do the V12. You'd win the internet for at least a week with that.

I'd really a rwd ferarri ff kind of thing but with lexus reliability. I just feel like a 12 will sound so nice that it'll be fun even going slow (ish), where as a built 2jz is going to make me do bad things and get me in trouble.

This weekend I finally did the manual transmission swap, it was a pretty big project but is about a day's work away! Pics to come!

First day of driving went very well, the auto rear gearset is slightly lower than the manual so acceleration is nice and strong. I did a supra clutch and flywheel to delete the dual mass flywheel and lost 16lbs, it feels great and is pretty perky now. I will do a little more testing before deciding, because I've got a manual lsd too but I think the shorter gears are nice but long enough for highway stuff too.

I got some recaros, but theyre for the kiddo that's due next week, daddy has to wait for his pole positions :-/

I also bought some kw variant 3 coilovers that should be in this weekend. The secondhand illuminas were pretty lacking in rebound so I'll be glad to see them gone. Ill do a photoshoot this weekend when I do the coilovers and allignment (I've got a rack at the school now ;). I know that the r/f camber adjuster is seized so until I can swing some figs mega arms, my settings won't be optimal, but I can be patient, maybe......

Seized alignment adjuster eh? I assume you have already used all your pb blaster and broken your largest hammer trying to loosen it?

I jest but seriously this is an awesome build. Hell even if you keep the stock motor I can dig it! It looks great with those wheels and im sure the manual makes it a whole lot more entertaining. Keep up the good work mate.

Don't know if you have bought management yet but I have an AEM FIC 6 that I no longer have a reason to have (nib) that I would sell you for less than any new one. You mentioned a greddy unit, this is very similar and a little newer tech, I believe.

I'm still on the fence as to the direction I'll go powerwise, so I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
