Jose must be a wizard partsman.

I'm wondering what Seth did to Jose to get the almost $30 discount.

I told him I wanted to buy it from him because I thought buying local was better than buying online but it was $55 online. He talked to his parts manager and made it happen. Pretty rad.

Looks like you essentially got a "jobber" discount.  The price a parts house gives to shops and other B2B customers.  The percentage varies, but typically about 30%.  That was my life for a few years back in the late 80's and early 90's.

Wonder what the price would have been if you'd have autocrossed it twice to qualify for Mazdaspeed membership.  Ahem.

I do autocross (and rallycross) my other Miata. I'm not totally lame. I should sign up for Mazdaspeed stuff again. I'm still on their email list from when I had a membership with the 2.

In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :

You can only buy parts for the vehicle that you have registered, no?

This is why when I signed up, I pointed out that at any given time I could have one of five different species of rotary in my car, and that it has a front suspension from something else.  (not that they ever seem to check anything, like ignoring my RX results until I physically call and talk to someone.... But good news!  RX is no longer supported, so I can take all those decals off)

So I need to tell my wife that I can't afford to NOT autocross it? Seems reasonable.

After 4k miles of driving that same AC pipe has failed. I need to go talk to the parts people. Good that I don't have to track it down, but not really acceptable to have it fail a couple times a year. Maybe I got a bad one?

I feel like I should have updated this?

The first pipe I replace failed, the dealer replaced it under parts warranty and I put it on. Easy peasy. Hoping this one lasts longer.

The Yokohama tires got LOUD and were replaced with some Michelin PS4S and we're all very happy with that choice. Car is quieter and nicer to daily.

I took it in to pass emissions yesterday, which it did easily. The more I drive it the more I like it. Mrs. Deuce is still on the fence after a year. She likes it, but hasn't bonded with it in the same way she has with other cars. She can't think of anything that would be nicer to replace it with, and it's paid for, so we're going to keep in in the fleet and it will still be her commuter about 4 days a week. When it's rainy she still drives the FJ mostly so that people can see her better.

Semi permanent garage decoration. It's on the winter list along with a whole bunch of other things. The collarbone has put pretty much everything on hold. Life is like that sometimes.

Rufus for sale now? Saw it on Facebook.

Curious why your getting rid of it, if its related to the car. Ive just been tossing around the idea of getting rid of my ND, or modifying it more

Rufus is freaking great, but yes, it's for sale. Neither of us have fallen in love with the car and the changes we need (lower seat for me, higher for Mrs. Deuce) make it undriveable for the other one. We've both agreed that if we lived somewhere that didn't require driving on five lane super freeways with 70% full size trucks we'd keep it. Reality is reality though and Mrs. Deuce is done with it as a commuter so that means it's time for a new home.

I commute in a truck for the same reasons.  I'm in DFW and think you are near Houston.  I wouldn't commute there in an ND either.  Sad to see it sell though, I bet its fun to drive.
