Hey all!

I'm a newbie here, but I frequent many other places.
Thought I'd show my rally car build.
I purchased this as a rolling shell a few years back, with plans on a cheap club-sport's car, with plans of eventually doing a rally or two.

The rolling caged shell set me back $2,500 NZD, with no engine, or seats/harnesses, but included a gearbox, etc.

I also purchased an RS Legacy road-car for $1000 NZD, to use the engine for the rally car.
Sourced some seats second hand for $300, and purchased some harnesses brand new.

I already had a LInk G4+ ready to install, which I had in my Previous RS-RA Legacy.

Just to be different, I decided to re-paint the car blue and yellow, just so that it wasn't the same as the previous owner.

From there, I went and did my first event in it, which was awesome!

Then two or so events after that, it went kaboom....

At that point, I was debating between another cheap second-hand engine, or building one good one.

In the end, I went with a whole new motor, which was a fun build.

Forged rods and pistons, EJ20G Closed deck block, v3 STI-RA heads.

The new motor was great, we also twisted the turbo too, which ended up touching a power steering line, and catching the engine bay on fire...

Since then, the car's done a few events, with some misc changes.
It's been swapped from a TD05 to a VF22, installed a v7 WRX intercooler, top feed conversion with radium fuel rails, and v7 STI injectors.

Nissan Silvia S15 Dashboard, with a RaceTechnology Dash2 digital gauge.

Here's some in-car from one of my last events, I hadn't used it very much in the year before this, and it's changed a lot since the last time I did, so I'm learning it all over again!
So sorry, it's not crazy fast!

Exhaust, and Cyclic-idle/Anti-lag:

Here was the very first start of the car, after sitting 7 or so years, there was a lot of rust in that exhaust!

And here's some older footage of the car, I don't have much newer stuff sorry!

This is from one of the very first events it brought the car to, a grass AutoX.
This is also when it was running an original RS engine with rocker arms etc, so a very classic Subaru sound.

Looks good!

Just wondering, how many events do you have a year down there?

In reply to Donebrokeit :

Hey!

Thanks, depending on the type of event and how far you want to travel, really.

we tend to have 12 or so hill climbs with my local club, then surround clubs will have a similar number, and are an hour or so drive away.

We have one major rally in my area, which is the Otago rally, which is a big 2 day event, and often ranked the best in the country.
then we'll have 3 or 4 1-day rallies a year in the surround area put on by a couple of different clubs.

And on top of that, usually 5+ grass auto-cross/Gymkhana events as well.

So we're pretty decent really, which is awesome!

This is the local club that I'm a part of, and what runs the Otago Rally:

Then there's also these clubs within reasonable driving distance:

Well, it wouldn't be a Subaru rally car if it didn't go kaboom at least once a year, lol...

There are quite a few of us rally people here and quite a few build threads. Look forward to keeping up with yours!
