No CMC issues.  The AC compressor went at over 200K miles.  I hear people call them known issues but they seem to last way past 100K.  It seems like a  "known issue" with a Honda is anything that breaks only because so few things break.  I have a friend with a shop that fixes Hondas, Audis, VW, Subarus and Mazdas.  He doesn't do much more than oil changes on the Hondas and Mazdas.

I will admit that 3rd gear syncho on the Blue car isn't perfect, but isn't a major problem either.

Ah ok. Good point. When I read forums, on the Si, I notice gear grinds and CMC/AC mentioned the most, thus was curious the mileage you may have some "issues." Since I am at 68k miles, and baselined all fluids, A/C compressor, and the CMC is all I am keeping an eye on for now on my ride.

I tend to overmaintain, and I need to just say "its just a civic" and leave with it. My synchros are ok, and ScottyB on the forum has mentioned 15-20K trans fluid changes, so I will do that, to keep on top of the synchros. Mine are perfect (for now), but woul dlike to keep them going well and forward.

Appreciate the help as always.

UPDATE:

So I finally filled the tank up (dealers gas is all finished). Car had fuel light on, and 1 bar, and it took 10.9 gallons of premium, at $28. Once I go through this tank, I can properly measure MPG and where I am at.

My car has the B pillar fade, that seems so common on all these Hondas (at least on the west coast). Not only does it bother me, wife insisted I fix it asap. After doing much research, found that the situation is exactly like my S2000 A pillar, which is that all the pillars on the Civic are actually painted body colour. On top of that, Honda puts the black vinyl, which is what fades and deteriorate. I thought about just removing the vinyl, but after looking online, it looks terrible when its body color only.

People have tried peeling the vinyl off (8-10 hours per door, the it is tucked - if forum is to be believed).  I am not willing to put that kind of time.

I initially wanted to try plasti dip. However, having never used the products all teenagers are so enamored with, my friends noted, due to people (kids) touching pillar to close door, that the plastidip will wear off.

Honda actually carries the OEM Vinyl at $8-$14 per door (depending on your online source). I have the problem on 3 doors, so I ordered for all 3.

Well parts arrived today, and I attempted it.  Took me about 2 hours to do one door, and I think the results speak for themselves. I will tackle the other two doors tomorrow, which should be MUCh faster, now that I know somewhat, of what I am doing

Tint or no tint but especially no tint use sunscreen. I was on the road for years & my dermatologist tells me that's why I've had so many cancers on my left arm & the left side of my face. Be safe.

Thank you. What you said is very important. I was not very good with it, being born and raised in CA. But last 10-12 years, have been pretty religious about it, as had a few friends go through skin cancer issues.

Lastly, I used to get new knobs when I buy a car. Had everything from voodoo to mugen to skunk2.

then I got old, and like the leather oem knobs. Get off my lawn

but day I brought car home - wife said oem knob has some scratches and she preferred it didnt. While on search for new oem, came across a guy giving away OEM 2020 Civic Type R Knob. Worth about $100, but he wanted $20 shipped to me

deal

now matches my Elise. Weighted similar to oem (both pretty heavy). Wife happy has no scratches

Fun day as my camaro and Abarth friend joined

Saw tons of Porsche’s, miatas, and sti out there ....today

car did excellent. New trans fluid and shifter was fantastic. Of course the 500TW tire is garbage but I made do. Suspension was very poised and it really brought some joy back to driving

was in 2nd and 3rd gear  all day, bouncing off redline

heck yeah.  i think i told you before but i've had 3 different strangers strike up conversations with me about that sticker just out of the blue.  people just get a kick out of it.

one of the guys who talked to me was a real old sage, told me about all the hot rods he has, how much he loves driving, and showed me pictures of an old WWII M38 willys jeep he restored that is some kind of super rare hardtop version they only used in the air force.  i think we talked for like an hour.  i love meeting people like that.

hope it produces some chances to meet other enthusiasts!

Too bad you didn't lug the bikes along, there's a world class MTB trail that ends right by that drive through arch.

i don't know about you but i love the seats, its the only car i've been able to reasonably tolerate 8+ hour hauls in and still feel decent.

Thanks. Forgot to comment on seats. As you recall, the front seat is one of my favorite aspect of the car. Today is 11 hour drive day.

agree 100%, 9 hours driven other day , 0 fatigue. Love the bolstering .

  • Average speed was 84-86 MPH
  • mpg has been 33-34.1 mpg
  • A/C has been OFF
  • range has been 375+ miles
  • gas is cheap at $2.38
  • outside temps have been 64-77 F

no oil burning yet, as I hear k20 are notorious for it. Thus checking it every other morning

Yellowstone saw the best mpg of the trip at 35.1 mpg . Of course driving around at 45 mph behind billions of RV will do that.

trip got extended from 3100 miles to 3600 miles

  • At Glacier National Park now
  • OCI went from 100% indicated to 60% on instrument cluster
  • she's running like a top
  • loving the shifter, seats, and eager suspension
