Putting it first in an ad is designed to send a message.
Its also lazy as google translate on my iphone has allowed me to travel to places where I have no hope of understanding the local language and coping.

I went to deep Japan. Recently. If I couldn't find someone who spoke English I used google translate on my phone. Itll even translate speech on the fly. Any excuse about a.language barrier has been removed by technology and your arguments do not carry water.
This ad is lazy at best and racist at worst. It's kinda like those tinder profiles that state " I'm a kind hearted person who loves everyone, no (insert ethnicity )".

Once we were trying to sell my dads 1985 Lincoln Towncar at a neighborhood garage sale.
A family was interested but only the 8 year old kid spoke English and my Spanish was a bit weak.
Negotiating back and forth on an $1800 car with an 8 year old kid was interesting.

For the other posters, I'm sorry if stating "English only." seems to be lazy or racist to some, but yes, it was due to communications from people in TJ when posted elsewhere. Yes, I only speak one language. Yes, a phone could be used to translate; if the potential buyer is interested then that is their prerogative.
