I did receive more details from the owner and it looks like the price will be revised as a result of his comments:
· First off the front end didn’t sustain any damage, the chassis has never been wrecked or tweaked. The one bar in the front in the picture that can be seen with damage was due to transporting it using a cable winch and it was accidentally crushed. This did not change any suspension dimensions and could easily be replaced by any competent fabricator in about 1 hour. If it is of that much concern I would be willing to repair it prior to shipping for any serious buyer.
· The motor is toast and is likely not salvageable. It threw a rod and there is a hole in the side of the block.
· The transmission and the body panels are where the majority of the value for this car is. Our race team had 3 Radicals and since this one had a blown motor, we simply used this car as a “parts/spare car” to keep the other two Radicals running. I suspect any buyer for this will want it as just a few of the parts as this entire car could potentially be cheaper than buying replacement parts. As an example the rear body panel is over $5K to replace.
· The transmission is not only “still in working condition” it was just refreshed by Taylor Race Engineering in Texas. Our team spend almost $9K to “refresh/rebuild” it and it had approximately 3 hours (i.e. 3 race days) of run time on it when the motor blew. For anyone not familiar with a Hewland sequential transmission, these units cost ~$20K. Considering this transmission has only used up 10% of it’s service life it should be worth at least $10K alone.
· We are very willing to part out any specific pieces needed but figured we would list the entire car as-is to make it a package deal to start with
· Not pictured but we still have the upper and lower rear control arms, two aluminum hat floating rotors and all four Radical branded 4 piston calipers and a brand new never used set (8 pads) of brake pads. (no knuckles/uprights though)
· Selling race cars is always a loss so getting more is always nice but we would take as low as $12K for everything (buyer pays for all actual shipping costs).
· We also have three sets of wheels: One set of 1-piece black wheels and two sets of 3-piece wheels. These go for $3K+/set. Will sell for $1500 each or $3000 for all three sets or $14K for the entire car all spares which aren’t shown or listed plus the 3 sets of wheels.
· This ad does not have a lot of information but you can speak directly with the owner for serious buyers to talk through the details. (I will provide contact details upon request)
· To be clear, Radical SR8’s are expensive so no matter how you slice it. Considering you can get used ones in running condition for $55K+, it would be cheaper to go that route than to buy this and rebuild it unless you are a master fabricator and can make the replacement parts yourself vs needing to buy new from Radical dealerships.
--- I hope this answers the questions that were asked...please let me know if you need anything else.
