Yep! A friend in high school was rebuilding the V4 in a sonnett III, prolly same year as that one. Red I think. Seen so many pictures of them since then I don’t really remember. Few years later, another friend had a sonnett II with a 4 stroke almost on the road, another with the 2 stroke, and two sedans with the 2 strokes!
Either someone got to the guy and offered to auction everything or he's super slow to reply. Yesterday i was ready to drop everything, raid the safe, and go on an impulse buy shopping spree.

Hard to know how much weight the chassis could take but that would be a very cool EV conversion platform.
Its Beetle based. How weird, how cool, I want one but it would need a 911 engine or something in it instead of the bug engine.
Also the excalibur looking thing was a t top 3rd gen trans am
