The styling may not be to everyone’s taste, but the 1978-’95 Porsche 928 is a great GT car. It has an amazing V8 engine, luxuries previously unheard of in a Porsche, and a better build quality than nearly any other car in the world.

For years, these cars have languished at the bottom end of the Porsche market, but recently there has been movement in the prices—possibly due to those adolescent viewings of “Risky Business.”

Current prices run between $8000 and $12,000 for an excellent two-valve car, and up to $12,000 to $15,000 for nice four-valve cars. A GT or GTS model will cost more, with GTs at around $20,000 and GTSs at around $30,000.

Yep, nice examples are getting harder to find and prices are on the rise. I just sold my S3 and broke even including my original purchase price two years ago including 8k worth of maintenance.

I have owned and enjoyed my 928 S4 for 10 years. Puts a smile on my face every time i drive it. You will notice that negative comments on these cars come from people who have never owned one let along driven one. Like many 911 owners, they just don't know. Some even drive things like TR8's.
