We decided we wanted to enter a concours event with our now finished and sorted Mini Cooper S. We sent in an entry request and were accepted at the Winter Park Concours d’ Elegance. But we needed to do some detailing before we started rubbing elbows with this high-level crowd.

As always, our buddy Tim McNair of Grand Prix Concours Preparation gave us some tips and we went to work. As McNair has detailed countless concours cars and has won at places like Amelia and Pebble, we figured we ought to listen to what he had to say.

We started with Griot’s Machine polish and then hand waxed the Mini with Swissvax Concorso carnuba wax.

Of course this is an over simplification, as we spent nearly two days getting all the over-spray and funk off the freshly restored car. We were positively shocked at how beautiful the car came out.

After detailing, the next step is driving the mini into a large ZipLoc bag and sealing it tight.
