Our Spitfire came with a bent up and badly repaired hood prop rod. This gave us an excuse to try out a new hood prop system developed by Clark & Clark Specialty Products.

This $79.95 kit replaces the conventional—and rather awkward to use—hood prop kit with two struts that make raising and lowering a Spitfire hood an easy, one-man operation.

The kit installs easily with self-explanatory instructions. Do be forewarned, that a late Spitfire like ours (1979-1980) takes a different kit because of its slanted radiator.

We literally got the kit installed in 15 minutes and were quite pleased with the results, especially considering the more than fair price charged. This modification can also be easily reversed should originality ever become a real factor with these cars.

Um, they didn't develop it, they just packaged it and marketed it.

That "kit" has been around for years and done by various Spitfire folk world wide. Developed by multiple Spitfire owners.
