I probably shouldn't even post this, because I know what you enablers are already going to say :). 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 4.8 V8 164K with 5-speed. Typical IL rust. Some body damage, but nothing that concerns me for what I would be using it for.Sounds like a fun combo. Use as a work truck parts hauler and then?? Thoughts? Things to look for? Thanks.

Things to look for? I'd start with a rust free old gm pickup body to swap the drivetrain into. Whichever one is your favorite. 67 or 68 would be my pick.
i wouldnt call a 4.8/5 speed truck a unicorn, they are pretty uncommon but i know a few people who have them and i see them for sale every now and again.
I knew the Durmaxes of this vintage had a ZF 6 spd , but the lesser ones too?
