Nice meeting you. Glad you got home OK.

In other news I put the corvette wheels on my s10.

Lots of potential there. Broken windshield might be an issue unless there's some kind of parts swap with something else available.

So glad it's so far away.

OK, so the way I'm seeing it traditional pickups, as well as "ute" type deals, are legal. What about commercial stuff? Dump truck? Mail truck? Step van?

A dump truck would be outstanding.

Yes unfortunately. I used a set a 2 inch spacers that were in the trunk of my chevelle when I bought it. They fit perfect now.

So, I'm only seeing these three $2017 Challenge truck build threads:

maschinenbau's Rice Rod

pimpm3's S10

My S10

Are the any other threads I'm missing? Anyone building something, but just not have a build thread right now? I'm curious.

Ages ago at the $2005 Challenge, we managed to get a bunch of the Civics/CRXs together for a group photo. Hopefully, we can manage the same for the pickups this year.

Pat is picking his truck up in Jacksonville next week. Apparently it is the place to buy Challenge pickups...

Ooh, I need to get in touch with him soon, then, on the off chance he's going to be anywhere near Cincy. I'd like to buy some parts from him.

I didn't start off with the intention of building for the challenge, but I am at about half the budget right now so....

But I doubt it'll be a threat to anyone, with it's 250hp motor and a complete steel truck body...

Thanks! For the past couple of years, I've seen the sub-class groups gathering for photos at different locations around the facility. I imagine it'll be the same for the trucks.

Since John has been pushing PT Cruisers lately I decided to do some research and found this interesting.

Wikipedia said: The PT Cruiser is a front-wheel drive 5-passenger vehicle, classified as a truck in the US by the NHTSA for CAFE fuel economy calculations but as a car by most other metrics. Chrysler specifically designed the PT Cruiser to fit the NHTSA criteria for a light truck in order to bring the average fuel efficiency of the company's truck fleet into compliance with CAFE standards.

If the US government said it's true then it must be right?

I knew this, but did you know that the convertible is classed as a car.
The reason being that the rear seat does not fold on the convertible, one of the technicalities of SUV.

Also, the PT Cruiser is classed as an SUV, not a pickup truck.

But...
