I am wanting to update the fleet in the next couple of years. I have a 2003 BMW X5 with a manual trans that has done the toy hauling as well as winter driving for me.  My wife will not drive it though.  it has 190k and has been wonderful.  I am seeing used 2017 titan crew cab 4x4 for the range of 25k with 10k mile.  is there something I am missing?  i had collegue buy a new Ram for 50+ and was WTF.  I will keep driving my X5 forever.  i added a 2014 CPO Acura TL last year that had 12k miles on it. so there is no rush.  My wife and I have less than 5 mile commutes.  should i just keep my E36 M3 and shut up or is it time to upgrade?

The price is pretty normal price for  a new-ish Titan. For some reason the latest generation never really took off and dealers got desperate when they didn't leave the lots as quickly as they'd hoped. One of my friends managed to get 20k off sticker for a brand new XD Platinum Reserve last year.

Super thirsty but all other aspects point to awesome.  The Sequoia is a similarly depressed price vehicle vs Msrp of other depreciation proof 4Runnners in the Toyota lineup albeit not at those price points.

25k for that truck sounds... berkeleying stupendous. Kinda blows my mind.

It's because they are far uglier than the rest of the pickups. Ugly enough for people to go pay twice as much for a domestic. Those big ass stickers Nissan puts on them doesn't help. But, you can knock off a decent amount from msrp on a lot of trucks. They sell no matter what.

Terrible looking truck but that does end up making them a good deal

People complain about the looks of this:

But bought these by the millions:

Humans sure can be fickle. I bet if you'd photoshopped a Ford badge onto the Nissan, most people wouldn't think twice. While the Titan is not my favorite truck, I do think that the regular half ton version has better proportions than the ungainly XD.

It's in the eye of the beholder. They are photogenic (must be the filters) but looking at them with your own eyes is a different story.

I don't think most people realize that there are 2 different versions of the current Titan.. The first to be released was the heavier duty Titan XD. That truck got it's fair share of press upon it's release, but the general public didn't know anything about them. Meanwhile, the regular half-ton Titan was more or less slipped onto the market without any fanfare at all. Since the 2 trucks look so similar, everybody just assumes they're the same thing.

For me, the Titan XD looks awkward and goofy. The front end of the truck looks huge and bulgy in all the wrong places. The half ton Titan looks a lot less bulgy. I think there are some subtle differences in the sheetmetal, after looking at pictures of them side by side. The XD looks to have a different hood with more defined bulge in the center, and it may actually be a taller part, but I don't know. The XD grille might be taller too. If you look closely at the bottom edge, the XD grille seems to drop down further. The angled parts of the bottom grille edge appear to be more angular or longer. And the space between the bumper and the bottom of the headlights seems a little taller on the XD too. The article linked above mentions that the XD is over a foot longer than the half ton. The XD sitting so high and having so much wheel gap doesn't help either in my opinion.

Half ton Titan on the left, Titan XD on the right:

Most of the new trucks look like they hired designers from Wurlitzer. That yellow Titan is one of the plainer front ends available.

Both versions look better than the Rams.
