Here's a weird one: Does anyone know if a Ford 5.0 (or 4.6 or similar) engine would fit in a Peugeot 505? A friend of mine has an E36 M3-y 505 wagon rotting away on his dad's farm, and I just got curious. I figured if the swap's been done, it would be by a GRMer. It would be pretty cool if it could be done.

Thanks.

4.6 is a huge small motor. I think a 302 will fit anywhere if you want it bad enough.

I believe there is someone in the process of doing it on the 505turbo forums, don't think there is a build thread though.

Sawzall and welder says the answer is absolutely yes it will fit. Experience with swaps says the 5.0 is easier.

I learned to drive on a 505. There's a part of me that really, really wants to see this done.

How about a turbocharged PRV V6? Don't some people make pretty impressive power with those?

In reply to Clarty:

That's beyond wierd.

Have a look at the Rover/Buick/Olds V8 varients's. they're small, compact and being all aluminium about half the weight of a 5.0 iron block. If they can fit one into an MGB then they should fit into almost anything.
