Looking at a 98 boxster.. I've always wanted a p-car and the wife is demanding that the next toy be something she can drive (no manual transmission)

it is a low mileage car (under 40k).

Is it worth considering or should I wait for PDK cars to depreciate further?

The NC Miata is rather good with its automatic transmission and flappy paddle thingys. On the other hand, my SO thought the steering on the Miata was too fast for what she was accustomed to and made her a bit nervous.

SLK is rather nice too.

Sorry I'm not helping here...

Regarding the Boxster, I'd say test drive the auto box and decide. If it's as good as the Miata box and has some way to choose your own gear, it might be good enough to not bother waiting

A friend left his tiptronic 986 with me for about a week, so of course I made extensive use of the car. The auto box is not bad, certainly better than any other commuter-car auto that was available at that time.

Proper maintenance is way more important than low miles in a Porsche.
