I'd love to do that. But I'd never buy anything from Renegade. Texas Performance for me. I wonder, if you wanted to return it back to stock, what would an engine and trans cost?

In reply to DrBoost:

From my research i found that rebuilt M96 engines are in the 15k-20k range. With the current price of pristine 996 Carreras below 20k, that is not a route I'd take. If you could find a used engine, that might be an option.

Unless.....I wonder how much a used GT3 engine and transmission cost?

Hmm,no title and no tranny. Those are huge issues. The LS swap reuses the stock Porsche tranny, having to buy another one adds quite a bit of cost to the car, assuming you could take care of the title issue

Hell of a soapbox derby car though...

Price in down to $6500 this morning. Looking better all the time.

$6500 would be heading in the right direction if it had a transmission. The way it sits, it's maybe worth a couple of grand at most for a part out.

I've seen them out here with a bad but still running engine for $3500...
