I find it interesting how many of y'all are surprised to now like 4 door cars. I've almost always preferred the aesthetic of 4 door sedans. But every one to their own opinion

Can't speak for the young'uns on here, but my developmental years as a car guy, old fuddy duddys drove 4 drs, and rode motorcycles with farings! 4drs ment you were a average 9 to 5 er, with 2.5 kids...

Understandable if the Impala's previous owner is named Nick Scavo.

I will always choose an auto over a manual for all daily drivers.

From a person who in his younger years would ridicule automatic owners if they actually had enough limbs to operate a manual.

This exactly. I always looked at a great looking car, but seeing an auto instead of a manual would instantly change my mind about the car. (Somehow Chryslers were an exception to this). Now I'm looking at -finally- driving an automatic DD...   Sadly...

"And then Dad got in his CHEVY EV and drove home..."  laugh

Fifteen years ago the knowledge that future dad would be driving either a domestic car or an EV would have me falling  over in disbelief. He started driving imports in the early 60's and has always talked smack about American cars (big, heavy, slow-handling, inefficient, terrible quality) until very recently. Trucks were a different story, but that starts wandering off topic...

I wish.  I have a base model 2005 with a 3.4. Not even a 3.8 much less an aluminum 632 big block.

I may have to revisit the last one at some point.

Because I found this inspiration. and I want to build it:

This makes sense because Mazda is one of the few vehicle manufacturers that truly understands how to calibrate digital driving inputs.

An E36/8 was the first DBW car I remember hating. Mom's 2010 Mazda 3 is the first I remember liking. I was driving mom's old cable throttle 2004 Forester at the time(last year before DBW).

The DBW throttle in my E38 is quite good.  No perceptible lag or anything.  The pedal being a bit front-loaded in terms of response curve is really the only giveaway it's not a cable throttle.  On the other hand, drive a mid-2000s Toyota / Lexus.  Those have horrid DBW throttles, the 4cyl Toyotas being the worst, the 6cyl Lexus models being less bad.  They're numb, laggy, everything bad I can think of for DBW.
