I'm not 100% on this, but shouldn't there be an actual cash transaction where somebody purchases said item before you can claim it for recoup? I know, I'm nitpicking...

It came with the purchase of the vehicle.
To sell "parts" for recoupe, you must first get someone to buy it. Nobody is paying for dead rats these days.

Actually people do pay for frozen rats, but not dry ages decomposed mice. Owners of larger snakes prefer frozen to live rats as they can't injure the snake when feeding.
