Crowd-Sourced You-Pull-It Lot Map- Please add to it!

Since there was not one already around that we could find, we've been working on coming up with a central map that everyone can see and add to of self-service car parts lots (aka U-Pull-It or Pull-A-Part).

The original crowd-sourced map that I created was limited to very few locations unless a fairly expensive account is created- for the time being though the map linked below should work as a general location database. You should be able to add locations by signing in with your Google account- if you don't have one or don't want to post them yourself, you can post the info on them here and someone else will likely add it to the map

Since it may not be the most obvious- to add a location to the map, click on the link below to go to the map as a starting point. Search for the place you want to add or type in the address as usual, and then click on the pin for it to expand the information. There should be an 'Save To Map' at the bottom of the bubble, and if you click that it will ask which you want to save it to- 'U-Pull-It Junkyards' should be selected already, and then hit 'Save'.

Well, I know why the additional locations aren't showing up- The free account is limited to 8 locations, and my original three and the others that were added earlier used those up.

I'm going to have to look around more at options for this... It would be $500 to get unlimited data points and 100,000 page views, and while I rather like this idea I don't like it $500 worth. :-p Maybe I should start a Kickstarter project to pay for it.

If anyone knows of any other crowd-source Google Maps apps/methods, please let me know.

For now though, please continue posting the lots here- I'll at least tabulate them on a Google Docs spreadsheet that everyone can view and download until I find a way to do it via a map.

it's the best junkyard in the world.. 100+ acres of everything from the dawn of self propelled cars to things that just drove off the dealer lot and got totaled yesterday.. spent many saturdays just walking round that place and bought, sold, and traded many, many cars and pats there over the last 20+ years...

I added that one to the map. If you have a gmail account it should work, otherwise just post it here and I can add it.

I've updated the top post with the link to the Google Map, and added the ones that I had added on the original crowd-sourced map.

Added Dom's and Standard Auto Wreckers in Ontario.

Went to both with my 70+yo great uncle once, in Dom's he said "This place is so clean and organized, I've never seen anything like it."

Went to Standard and he said "This is more like I was expecting"

Added the Kansas City Pick-N-Pull. Haven't done business with them (yet), but will be in the near future. Their lot always looks neat and tidy, and their website is really easy to use to search inventory and find pricing information.

Very... different.

I put a bunch of the pick n pulls from Portland/Vancouver in there. I also added notes...if you guys think of specific details, that's helpful for visitors. Here's an example of what I added on mine:

$2 admission, gravel lot usually no puddles, wheelbarrows and engine hoists on site at no extra cost, decent mix of old and new, truck and car, import and domestic. Occassional half-price sales.
