I want a back up camera for my sierra Denali. I can not see anything that is within 8-12 feet of the back of the truck. The problem is where do you mount it? Ideally it would go in the back gate. Possibly mounted as part of the plastic handle but I remove the lift gate every now and then and that would mean unplugging wires. I also tend to be tough on lift gates so putting a camera in it will result in it getting a beating.
Anyone have any good solutions. I would like to see the hitch for when I am hooking up trailers as well as when I am parking so I can get closer to other cars with out fear of punching a hole in there plastic bumper covers.
Ok why is my name on this post???
Can an admin change this to "Backup Camera Truck Addition".
I think my new cell phones autocorrect is having issues.
I learned that a license plate frame camera is the single most awesome tool for hooking up a trailer. I am not as skilled in backing up to trailers as some. I am usually that guy who backs up, gets put and sees that his is still 3 feet away, gets back in and makes another try, gets out and sees he is 12" to the left....ect. It can take me 10 minutes. With a backup camera on the plate frame I am within .75" on the first try.
They are awesome in my book for that one reason.

My Buick cane with one just above the plate and it's the perfect spot for it.

Ya. I think we broke the GRM space time continuum or something.

Glad you're still with us dean1484.
I'd try a license plate camera and see how that works. I don't have experience with aftermarket cameras, but most new cars locate the camera in that general area and some are spectacularly good.

That's exactly what I thought.
Nope alive and kicking here. For some reason my iPhone thinks the title block for a new thread is a form field and wants to insert my name. It does it automatically. I just did a couple tests (with out actually posting). And it is dead set on putting my name in there. Very weird. I think this is the first new thread I have made from my phone since I got it. I usually don't use it for surfing as it is my company phone.
It's nice to meet you mr. Smith.

Thread subject line has been fixed.
I put this on the ZAV (LX470):

and ran it to my new double DIN head unit. I trimmed it down some and mounted it above the license plate instead of on the plate.

Best collage basketball coach of all time in my option but he's dead also.
I have one my wife got for her H2 and it is a fully wired one. I have yet to install it as I can not figurar out how to run the wires from the rear hatch all the way back to the screen. Even a wireless one on her truck is looking like a problem. As I would still need to run wires for power. So I may use that setup on my truck but I really don't like the screen. It is cheep plastic that is suppose to adhere to the dash. To me that is a no go.
So with all that said I am thinking of taking the unit my wife got and giving it to my daughter and installing it on her Mazda 3 and starting from scratch for my Denali and then another one for my wife's truck.
Any preference on the viewing angle? I have seen them as low as 110 deg and as wide as 170.

My wife and I have lots of fun with the movie Mr&Ms Smith.
Wouldn't you already have power going to the hatch for the license plate lights? Can you tap into that for the wireless video option?
