One of these.  GRM wrote up its big sister, but I like the one that is essentially an Escape with Lincoln trim and sheet metal.  I drive one at <20 mph at the auction, and I'm embarrassed to say I must be old enough for one.  No I haven't started stretch pants and NO I don't need the pull handle and double "Ugh" to get out of a car.  Is this just an Edge with Lincoln grille and badges?

After driving a lowered Jetta in traffic at 75-85 mph, I find myself sitting at the bottom a canyon of SUV sheet metal.

Our son has a CX-5 which SWMBO really likes, but before plunking down cash, I'd like to look around.

The wife has a 2017 MKC.

I don't mind the driving experience. It's not lacking in power. The front seats are extremely comfortable. On decent roads it's extremely quite, although decent roads are hard to find around here. It gets pretty decent highway mileage, but only okay around town. She mainly does short trips and I think the MPG average is showing 27mpgs. I'll double check later. The size is right for us, two adults and an eleven year old.

I love the push button shifting.

I hate how it tends to lurch when the engine turns back on at a red light. However I tend to not use very much pressure on the brake pedal, if I hold the brakes a little harder it cuts down on that tremendously. But it's not always smooth.

Also it shifts a little hard when cold occasionally. But I haven't driven a FoMoCo product where that wasn't the case. But it's buttery smooth once it's got a little heat in it.

The only issue we've had was the screen failed to boot up correctly once. Locking us out of the HVAC controls. Dealer said they couldn't reproduce, but reset the computer and it hasn't happened since.

TLDR, The wife loves it. I like it. For an overall grade I'd give it a solid B+.

Okay the avg mpgs are actually 22.7. I knew it had a 2 and a 7 in there somewhere.

The wife says her favorite thing about it is the comfort. And her least favorite thing is the sometimes clunky start/stop.

New or used?

Used.  I can't get past 26 mpg in the Jetta and we no longer commute, so mileage isn't a push.

The hatch is wider on the MkC than the Escape, so maybe easier to take advantage of the full width of the cargo area.

My wife's Q5 has a kinda clunky start stop. I just turn it off most of the time.

My boss had an MkC. It was a comfortable highway car, pretty nicely designed inside, peppy enough.

But the transmission crapped the bed in just about 90,000 miles, all long-haul  highway. And my boss is one of those guys who takes it to the dealer for every scheduled service.

Lincoln is a luxury brand.  Frequent breakdowns of major systems only adds to the mystique.

I'm a pretty big fan of the MKC just for how much nicer it is than an Escape. I love the looks inside and out, especially with one of the interesting interior colors. I'm not sure how the value quotient places it.
