Changed the oil and filter in my 2007 525xi, went through the service interval reset procedure like every other time. This time, however, the reset doesn't hold. Next key cycle, it says oil change due and the counter is at 0 and counting into overdue. WTF? I think this car does "condition based service" intervals, so I'm thinking there's a crapped out sensor somewhere. Is this controlled by the oil level sensor in the pan?

I don't know a lot about the system, but the CBS does utilize the sensor in the pan to determine oil condition. Did you run a full scan on the vehicle to determine if there are any faults? You might be able to check live data on that sensor if you have the right scan tool.

5-1/2 years into E60 ownership and I *still* don't have a scan tool.
