I'm building a quarter scale Corvette and have many options for engines. The car was originally a 69 Baldwin Motion big block 427. I love the idea of the 427. But, I also like the idea of showcasing more modern drivetrain/injection. SBC LT1? SBC with single, dual, or triple carbs? TPI? 6:71 blower? I also have access to a 99 LS1.

Yes this is a scale plastic model but I was wondering what the hive thought?

6-71 blower makes everything better.

Big block all the way.

I think you mean 1/25 scale.

Have two engines?  Saw both down and make a 12 cylinder.

It's only plastic.

Two v-8s? Make a V-16!  The idea comes from a Road and Track article (I think it R&T) that had an April issue showing a XKE with a straight 12....  Just before the JAG V12 came out.

I had a 1/43 scale ‘63 Thunderbird that I got as a gift at church.  I couldn’t decide what to do with it as it was the only 1/43 I had.  These didn’t even have engines.  I had very low expectations but it turned out to be a beautiful kit so I decided to give it a go.  Instead of just building it by the instructions, I decided to color outside the lines and thought of Dave “Big” Deal artwork I’d seen.  I fabbed up a 1/24 scale (might have been 1/25) running gear out of a Willy’s gasser and put in it.  It was not easy but actually turned out to be the best kit I ever built.  Lots of positive comments.  Wish I still had it.  This was circa 1987.

Always go visual stunner. Either massive blower, or turbo through the hood. You could copy the oem's and just put a rectangle of plastic over the engine. But for REAL WTF factor, rotary engine or JDM straight six.

I used to do this with my model cars. I figure 9/10ths of the population will never look under the hood. The one time someone does, I'll know they are a car geek like me.

Sorry yes 1:25. Not 1/4. Oops on my maths.

I don't really want to cut up the hood. I really like it the way it is. The blower will have to find its way into another vehicle.

Hadn't though of hacking up two engines to make a bigger one. Hmmm?

The mold casting of the 427 is really well done. And the hood is removable or I wouldn't care.

Wish I had an LS7 SBC. Something about a small block 427 really does it for me.
